Overview
- At the top end of the pyramid, the high school program is designed to compliment a player’s development during time away from their high school teams. An emphasis is given to a more tactical way of training where players are encouraged to understand the differences between system’s of play and how to adapt as individuals, units and as a team. Along with this is a continued reinforcement on a player’s technical abilities.
Our high school aged players compete in one outdoor and one indoor season and then play for their respective high schools in either the fall (boys) or spring (girls).
- Our travel teams have three main levels and categories for players (A flight – Black, B & C – Blue and D flight – White).
Our primary goal is to offer players an opportunity to train and compete at a level comparable to the player’s ability at that time and to create teams with players of like ability.
From an educational standpoint, players are trained on being comfortable in possession of the ball first and foremost.
Depending on the ages and ability of the teams, the trainers will run through education of; dead ball situations (for and against), functional elements of play (i.e. how a single unit of players or multiple players from two units can work together. Examples would be the four players in a four man defense playing 11 v 11 or how the wide midfielders combine in the final third with two strikers to create goal scoring chances in a 9 v 9 format.
Players are required to tryout for these teams in the months of May/June and a competitive soccer seasons runs late August through mid June and has 3 mains seasons; fall (11 weeks), winter (11 weeks), spring (10 weeks).
- The newest addition to our development program is our Pre-Travel program. (This will begin in the spring of 2011 and continue in each outdoor season)
The concept of this program is to better prepare future travel soccer players at the youngest ages to compete in league play. As a next step onwards from the Academy, players aged 7 to 9 will be identified to form a pre-travel age group. Players will then train as a group once a week and be entered into two tournaments per season to develop their confidence and understanding of a competitive game day environment. This allows players and parents to start Travel soccer with less of a time and monetary commitment.
- Our Academy is a highly successful program which is offered during the winter and spring seasons. It is a program designed for beginners to soccer and also as a more structured training plan which can compliment a player’s education who may also be playing in a recreational soccer program. This program is offered to players aged 6 to 10 years and requires no previous soccer experience only an enthusiasm to play, have fun and learn the game.
